For whom?

To all new parents who have just welcomed a newborn! The skin-to-skin wrap promotes contact between parent and baby. Mama Louve is also available at a reduced price in your Mama Saver postpartum kit .

What for?

Mama Louve allows you to cuddle your baby warmly against you, offering comforting support reminiscent of their time in the womb . Skin-to-skin contact soothes your baby, fosters the parent-child bond, strengthens your baby's immune system, stabilizes their temperature, and stimulates breastfeeding if you have chosen to breastfeed. Skin-to-skin contact is even recommended by the WHO!

His secret?

This bandage is made from a fabric classified as a "medical device." Originally, it was used by medical professionals to treat broken limbs (this is the fabric that comes into contact with the skin, under a cast). It's perfect for skin-to-skin contact because its material is ultra-stretchy, doesn't lose its shape, and allows the skin to breathe thanks to its small perforations.

The benefits of skin-to-skin contact

From birth, direct contact with your baby stabilizes their temperature, breathing, and heart rate. This gesture soothes your infant and reminds them of the sensations before birth. They recognize your voice, your warmth, your skin. It also strengthens the emotional bond with both parents (who can both practice skin-to-skin contact). When practiced with the mother, this shared moment promotes breastfeeding and reduces postpartum stress. Direct contact allows your infant to come into contact with your own skin flora. This natural transfer of microorganisms helps their immune system develop and strengthens their first defenses against the outside world. The World Health Organization (WHO) even recommends this prolonged skin-to-skin contact. As you who have just welcomed your newborn, offer them this gentle and natural moment: it lays the foundation for a peaceful motherhood.

A well-designed skin-to-skin bandage

The Mama Louve sling was designed to combine safety and comfort. Its fabric, classified as a medical device, offers ideal elasticity without losing its shape. It keeps your baby close to you, without discomfort or excessive heat. Oeko-Tex certified, it contains no toxic substances and allows the skin to breathe. Its soft, hypoallergenic material is suitable for even the most sensitive skin, including that of newborns. Entirely made in France, it guarantees impeccable quality. This sling secures your tender moments and allows you to experience skin-to-skin contact with complete confidence, right from the very beginning.

Instructions for using the skin-to-skin bandage

Find a quiet, warm place where you feel comfortable. The sling is used after breastfeeding or before a nap, when your baby is calm. Place your baby naked against your chest, in a tummy-down position, with their head turned to the side and arms folded near their face. Their legs should remain tucked up, as they were in your womb. You can sit or lie down, whichever is most comfortable. This isn't babywearing, but a moment of closeness and tenderness. Your partner can also use it: skin-to-skin contact strengthens the bond for both of you.

Why adopt a skin-to-skin wrap from the moment of maternity?

Slip the Mama Louve skin-to-skin wrap into your hospital bag; it will quickly become indispensable. Lightweight and easy to put on, it can be used from the first hours after delivery. It helps your newborn feel safe and secure, close to you, in the warmth they already know. This contact soothes, reassures, and strengthens the bond you've shared since birth. In the event of a cesarean section or temporary separation (if your baby is in an incubator, for example), it offers a gentle way to reconnect. This simple moment, skin to skin, creates a cocoon of love and comfort for you and your newborn.

Settle into a comfortable space, whether sitting or lying down:

Step 1: Slide the headband over your head and adjust it at your hips.

Step 2: Gently place your baby against you, tummy to tummy, in a fetal position with their back rounded and their knees above the level of their bottom.

Step 3: Pull the headband up to the baby's earlobes, making sure it is positioned correctly above their chest and that their airways are clear.

Step 4: Enjoy this intimate moment to relax and bond!

To be practiced from the birth of the baby, as often as you wish and until the first 3 months of the baby's life.

frequently asked Questions
