What is Clean Beauty?
Clean Beauty, or literally in French “clean beauty”, designates a mode of consumption whose main objective is to promote the use of facial and body care products with a healthy composition. This concept responds to the strong demand from more and more consumers who are aware of the dangers of certain components contained in products. Accelerated by a few health scandals, consumer awareness has favored the creation of treatments free of chemical substances.
As a mother-to-be, you may feel the need to turn to skincare products formulated without chemicals or controversial substances. With the aim of optimal safety, it is important to use cosmetic products compatible with pregnancy and breastfeeding, which are developed specifically for pregnant women and young mothers.
Why adopt Clean Beauty during pregnancy?
Controlling the composition of your facial and body care products is even more important when you are expecting a baby. Indeed, pregnancy is a particular period during which vigilance is required regarding the products we use on a daily basis. Certain ingredients contained in your body and facial care products, as well as in your sunscreen, can be problematic for your health and that of your baby. Several reasons can justify the need to turn to Clean Beauty when expecting a child.
1 - To ensure the effectiveness of your care
Natural products generally have a higher percentage of active ingredients than in conventional cosmetics. Natural cosmetics are compatible with all skin types, taking into account the characteristics of the active ingredients contained in the treatments and the needs and particularities of your skin, you will benefit the most from natural products which prove to be effective treatments. To fight against stretch marks and hydrate the skin during pregnancy, nothing is better than 100% safe care.
2 - To protect yourself from endocrine disruptors
Aluminum salts, parabens, phenoxyethanol, triclosan, ammonia, phthalates, benzophenones (which act as UV filters in conventional sunscreens) are all endocrine disruptors that it is essential to keep away throughout your life, and even more during pregnancy. Clean Beauty allows you to take care of yourself, during pregnancy and postpartum, without exposing yourself to this type of toxic product.
3 - To naturally fight against stretch marks
Self-care is important at all stages of life. However, pregnancy is a time when it is all the more important to take time to relax and take care of your skin. Natural treatments are preferred to fight against stretch marks or reduce them. These somewhat unusual scars are in fact due to breaks in the elastic fibers of the dermis. Preventing stretch marks is easier than treating them. To do this, you need to soften the skin to compensate for its fragility by using softening vegetable oils and anti-stretch mark active ingredients. These natural treatments nourish, hydrate and soften the epidermis thanks to their regenerative and healing properties. For better effectiveness, it is recommended to apply the anti-stretch mark treatment twice a day.
To develop a skincare routine suitable for pregnancy, use an anti-stretch mark treatment such as Huile Sensorielle. This product with a silky texture and captivating fragrance is designed to effectively meet the needs of pregnant women. In addition, discover the La Pause Douceur fabric mask for the stomach based on marine active ingredients and hyaluronic acid. This treatment soothes itching and tightness, and helps prevent the appearance of stretch marks. Made in France with maternity and skin experts, this treatment is designed to meet the needs of future mothers. Paraben-free, phthalate-free, phenoxyethanol-free, alcohol-free and allergen-free, it guarantees the safety of the pregnant woman and that of her unborn child. Effective and safe, Daylily care allow you to pamper all skin types and give yourself a little sensory break from the first month of pregnancy.

4 - To prevent the appearance of pregnancy mask
Pregnancy mask, or chloasma, is hyperpigmentation of the skin that results in dark-colored patches. A real pet peeve for expectant mothers, this hyperpigmentation of the epidermis can appear on the forehead, nose, cheekbones, chin and above the lips. The appearance of chloasma is caused by a high concentration of estrogen in the body. This high concentration of female hormone increases the production of melanin, a skin pigment that responds when exposed to sunlight. To prevent skin hyperpigmentation, applying sunscreen is essential. To find a sunscreen suitable for future mothers, look for a hypoallergenic formula without comedogenic ingredients.
At Daylily our sun filters are designed to provide maximum protection without harming the health of the future mother and her baby. Your moisturizers can also be equipped with UVA and UVB protection. Crème Radieuse SPF 50+ is both a pregnancy sunscreen and a day cream. It is ideal for protecting the faces of pregnant women, while protecting them from chemical substances. La Crème Radieuse combines natural sun filters and synthetic sun filters, endocrine disruptors and nanoparticles have been excluded to offer pregnant women high protection, effective and pleasant to use.

5 – To avoid essential oils
As a precautionary principle, pregnant women are advised not to use beauty products containing essential oils from the first month of pregnancy. Essential oils are a concentrate of very powerful aromatic molecules. Each of these molecules has a specific action and can cause nervous or respiratory spasms and nausea if used incorrectly. Essential oils based on ketones are prohibited in pregnant women, as they risk causing abortion due to their potential neurotoxicity. Essential oils which have an action on the hormonal system are also prohibited.
For these various reasons, these concentrates of aromatic molecules are not recommended in the care of future mothers, particularly during the first trimester of pregnancy. From the 4th month, a low dose of essential oil may be authorized by a professional for topical use only. Do not hesitate to seek advice and opinions from a specialist to ensure risk-free use.
6 - To limit its impact on the environment
Brands like ours, which offer respectful care for future and young mothers and their babies; are also respectful of the environment that surrounds them. Our treatments are not tested on animals, do not contain ingredients of animal origin and limit unnecessary packaging as much as possible. A great opportunity to take care of your face and body while limiting your ecological impact.
Integrating Clean Beauty is certainly a good practice. This clean beauty routine is healthier for the skin and for the planet, without a lot of chemical substances. More importantly, we always check that the care is compatible with pregnancy.
