Why use coconut oil during your pregnancy?
Coconut oil is extracted from fresh coconut pulp. It naturally contains vitamins A and E which are excellent antioxidants. Vitamin A promotes cell renewal, while vitamin E stimulates the production of collagen, which helps the skin's fibers maintain all their elasticity – which is useful for preserving the suppleness and beauty of your skin when exposed to stress. tough tensions during these nine months! Vitamin E also helps moisturize the skin, and has the particularity of reducing scars.
It also helps soothe irritated skin. In addition, its 100% natural scent is very pleasant, and takes you on a journey in a single gesture ;-)
How to choose the right coconut oil during pregnancy?
During your pregnancy, you only want to use natural cosmetic treatments to take care of your skin, and you are right! Vegetable oils, such as coconut oil, are particularly suitable for moisturizing and softening your skin while expecting a baby: from nature, they are completely harmless for babies in utero and can be used with their eyes closed.
If coconut oil is incorporated into a body care product (a moisturizing cream or butter for example), make sure that all the other ingredients are natural, and without risk for your health and that of your baby, as is the case for our natural treatment oil which is perfect for enhancing your hair during pregnancy! All our facial and body products, for example, are formulated in accordance with a strict cosmetic charter, which bans harmful ingredients, or potentially harmful to a pregnant woman, such as essential oils and endocrine disruptors.
The disadvantages of coconut oil
However, although it seems perfect, coconut oil has some drawbacks . In particular, it tends to freeze as soon as the temperature drops. Below 25°C, you will therefore need to take the time to heat it under hot water or on your radiator before applying it. Its application therefore turns out to be more complicated, especially when you are in a bit of a hurry. The same is true if you are used to getting dressed directly after applying your body care... With coconut oil, you will need to be a little patient!
Indeed, its other disadvantage is that coconut oil is very oily, more than patience for its application, this can become a problem for certain skins. It has a comedogenicity index of 4/5, which makes it a false friend for acne-prone and blemish-sensitive skin. The golden rule with coconut oil is to definitely not apply it to the face where it can prove to be more harmful than beneficial!
