How to reclaim your body after pregnancy? Discover our tips for feeling good in your (new) skin

Pregnancy is a period when a woman's body changes. If generally, seeing your belly getting rounder day by day is a positive and fulfilling feeling, once the baby arrives, it is sometimes difficult to reclaim and fully take responsibility for your body which has completely changed naturally. First step: don't compare yourself!

We know well that not comparing ourselves is often easier said than done, and that it is sometimes difficult to resist that little voice in our head. However, this is perhaps one of the most important tips that we share with you for enjoying motherhood and maintaining a healthy relationship with your body.

Keep in mind that before and after pregnancy, every woman's body is different.

While some will manage to regain their ideal weight quickly, it can be more complicated and longer for others. Unfortunately there are no rules and so it is better to focus on yourself and your well-being than that of others. You have just given birth and it is quite natural that this act has consequences on your body.

Not comparing yourself also means avoiding scrolling through the profiles of “perfect mamas” and favoring those who make you feel good . This therefore involves a little spring cleaning on Instagram and your other networks! On certain subjects like breastfeeding or health, you can also think about reading articles to find out. Don't hesitate to unfollow accounts that seem too perfect to you and weigh down your morale. Instead, favor accounts of moms who seem closer to you and who don't hesitate to share the good and bad times and who show off their pregnancy pounds.

Slowly (but surely) return to sport

Whether you are sporty or not, one of the best tips for getting back into shape is physical activity. It remains a very good way to revitalize your body and feel more comfortable after your pregnancy. However, there is no point in running, you have to start in good time: the marathon is not happening right away! There needs to be a smooth return. Before (re)starting sport, it is essential to have the agreement of your doctor. Different factors will lead your practitioner to authorize you to practice sport, but in all cases it is very important to wait at least 6 weeks, the date on which you have your first postnatal appointment. During this consultation, during which your doctor will observe your perineum and your abdominal muscles, the latter will then be able to authorize you to resume a sporting activity or not, to advise you which one and how often. Even with a child, certain sports routines can be easy to integrate into your daily life.

What sports after pregnancy?

Initially, it is generally advisable to favor gentle sports such as walking, swimming, yoga or the Pilates method for a gentle recovery. Finally, don't be too hard on yourself ! You have just given birth. Pregnancy is a wonderful stage of life that is accompanied by physical changes. Take the time to appreciate your new body and your new curves before you desperately want to change it.
