Opt for follow-up at home by a private midwife
Is baby growing well? Are you taking the right steps to dress him, bathe him, blow his nose? Why does he cry so often? Do you have enough milk? During your stay in the maternity ward, you are very supervised, and the staff is there to advise you and answer your questions. At home, you may feel less serene and a little overwhelmed: this is completely normal and this is why you can benefit from PRADO, that is to say the return home service with support from 'a liberal midwife. She will visit you the day after you leave the maternity ward, then again 24 to 48 hours later to ensure that everything is going well for the baby ...and for the mother, for example, to ensure follow-up during your returning home after cesarean delivery.
This system is particularly interesting if you choose to shorten your stay in the maternity ward. This is possible if the delivery took place without problems . With the current health conditions and because visits are very limited in the maternity room, it is now possible to reduce the stay to 2 days, or even, if you gave birth in a birth center, to consider a return home 1 day after delivery, or a few hours after. In this case, home monitoring by a midwife is mandatory. In all cases, it is 100% covered by the Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie.
Why do we appreciate monitoring at home in the summer ? The heat can be tiring for you and your baby and you need to rest after giving birth ! We avoid traveling in the event of extreme heat and wait carefully for the midwife to arrive at home.
To rest
The best advice we can give you: when baby is sleeping, take the opportunity to sleep too and get an hour or two of sleep, and it doesn't matter if the household chores aren't done, it's not the priority. You will have plenty of time to put a new organization in place during your post-natal leave! Listen to yourself: fatigue, falling hormones, the aftershocks of childbirth can lead to baby blues, which can, in certain cases, turn into real postpartum depression. Be attentive, and do not hesitate to talk about it to those around you, or to a qualified person (midwife, doctor) , if you feel overwhelmed by events.
Limit visits, which can be tiring, even if family, friends, colleagues want to see your little one, there is no question of having guests permanently at home! The ideal, of course, is that the dad can take his paternity leave as soon as you return home , to support you and that everyone, parents and children alike, can make their mark in the best possible conditions.
Why rest after giving birth in summer? Heat tends to make us more tired ; the body must make additional efforts when it is hot to maintain body temperature at 37°C. And that goes for baby! We therefore take advantage of the summer period and the arrival of the newborn to avoid moving in all directions, stay calm.
Get help
Don't hesitate to ask those around you to help you recover well: a home helper can take care of the cleaning and ironing, a friend can take care of the baby while you take a nap, your mother can cook you some delicious meals, a babysitter can take care of the elders... The life of a young mother is not always easy, grab the outstretched hands and lighten your mental load without guilt , whenever possible!
Your loved ones should be able to help you more easily. And in summer, we tend to be less stressed, which is good for baby!
Anticipate, for an easier return home
The baby's room is not ready, you don't have enough diapers, clothes, formula (if you haven't chosen to breastfeed), the fridge is desperately empty... So many situations which can cause unnecessary stress! Try to anticipate the various purchases related to the baby's arrival so you don't have to run to the stores as soon as you get home. By having everything within reach, you will be more serene and start your baby adventure with a free mind. The only thing to do (and not the least!) when you find your home sweet home: remember to declare the birth of the baby to the Primary Health Insurance Fund and to the CAF to trigger your rights and the payment of benefits.
Coming home after giving birth in the summer requires some adjustments. The heat can be painful and unpleasant for you and your baby. Anticipate and plan for fans, misters, anti-heat curtains... Think well-being!
Think about yourself, and enjoy!
You have a summer baby, walks at the end of the day and pleasant temperatures are yours!
Of course, there is no question of resuming sport at this stage – the resumption of sporting activity is subject, for most women, to perineal rehabilitation sessions a few weeks after childbirth, in particular to avoid urinary leakage, descent of organs, and retonify the perineum damaged during these nine months. But you benefit from the ideal weather for taking beautiful walks, walking your baby, and the sun is good for your morale, take advantage of it! Just remember to protect your face from the sun , because the pregnancy mask can intensify or appear even after childbirth, especially if you are breastfeeding. For this, our Crème Radieuse with its SPF50+ is ideal!

And if you haven't had time to use La Pause Douceur while you're pregnant, there's still time to do so! Indeed, after childbirth your stomach shrinks quickly and can then be uncomfortable . Our fabric mask for the stomach instantly soothes feelings of tightness and itching . Enriched with Dermochlorella, it also prevents stretch marks that could appear after the baby arrives. ;) Be careful, however, not to apply La Pause Douceur if you have had a cesarean section.
