Exfoliation and pregnancy, what are the benefits?
Whether mechanical or enzymatic, the purpose of exfoliation is to remove dead cells on the surface of the skin which dull the epidermis.
On the body , the scrub also helps fight cellulite, which tends to increase on the buttocks, thighs and hips during pregnancy. By stimulating blood circulation, it promotes the drainage of fats and therefore limits the presence of dimpling and orange peel skin.
By restarting microcirculation, you limit the feeling of heavy legs, which affects many pregnant women.

Gentle scrubs during pregnancy

The skin on the face is fragile . When pregnant, your body produces more melanin, which makes your skin more sensitive to the sun and prone to the appearance of pigment spots – the famous pregnancy mask. A scrub that is too abrasive can accentuate this hypersensitivity to UVA-UVB rays: choose grain-free scrubs that respect the fragility of the skin in this area.

DIY: 100% natural scrubs for pregnant women
Making a homemade scrub is easy, economical, practical and very quick! Here are three DIYs to gently exfoliate your skin on your body or face in just one minute.
• For the body : make a sugar-based scrub. Mix a tablespoon of very fine sugar, and a tablespoon of vegetable oil of your choice (olive, argan, coconut, etc.) and apply the mixture to the areas of the lower body (thighs, buttocks, knees, heels) , especially those prone to stretch marks (except the stomach, you will have understood ;-)).
• For a nourishing facial scrub: mix two spoons of natural yogurt with a spoon of honey, leave on, then massage gently and rinse. This recipe is particularly suitable for dry, sensitive or reactive skin.
• For a softening facial scrub: mix a spoonful of almond powder with a spoonful of sweet almond oil and gently exfoliate. This scrub is perfect for pregnant women, because sweet almond oil nourishes and softens the skin.
• For the lazy : if you are not a big fan of DIY (and pregnant, no one will blame you ;-)), turn to black soap, which is one of the best natural treatments to erase the skin, provided you choose it wisely. Choose a black soap based on Argan oil and whose traceability of ingredients is guaranteed. Be careful, however, with those containing essential oils such as rosemary or eucalyptus, which are not recommended during pregnancy. Finally, to use it, nothing could be simpler: apply it all over the body then leave it to act for a few minutes. Then exfoliate with a traditional skin-friendly glove.
The right frequency during pregnancy? Whether for the face or body, no more than once a week!
Carry out your facial exfoliation after having previously removed make-up and cleansed your skin.
