A little presentation of you in a few lines…
I am Fanny, I am under construction… and I hope that I will be so all my life.
I come from a family where we cultivate the land to create something beautiful, where we cook to give something good, and where we undertake things to act and do good. I believe that, like cats, we can have several lives. I created Moodkit in 2007… 10 years already! I also set up Egg magazine, produced TV shows, developed educational projects, committed a lot of energy to charitable and cultural associations, and published a collection of poetry. I love new years and their window into the unknown, making lists of good resolutions. I have a thirteen year old son and an 18 month old daughter.
What were the reasons that pushed you to embark on an entrepreneurial adventure?
Becoming a mother rushed me through my life. My son and daughter engage me every day to make the world a better place. The day I left everything I knew to start my own business, I felt like I woke up from a long sleep. Moodkit is a pretty awesome work life companion. In ten years, I have evolved my brand according to my convictions. The entrepreneurial adventure is unique for this reason and allows you to act and give meaning to what you do every day. But no angelism! It’s a path strewn with pitfalls and disappointments too.
How did you come up with the idea for Moodkit?
I was 29 when I became pregnant with my son. I felt very fulfilled, very happy, very powerful... but when I went into the pregnancy stores, this bubble of joy burst. I had the impression that they were trying to sell me orthopedic clothing, they were referring me to my height, my weight... Moodkit is the expression of a well-being which is sovereign and which must remain so throughout the pregnancy. So I tried to create the most comfortable, softest, most practical, simplest garment. And above all no size!!!!! A universal size that fits all women.
Who are the moodkit girls?
My greatest joy with this adventure is to have brought together a community of women who recognize themselves in the values of Moodkit. Put two Moodkit girls in a yoga class and they become instant friends. I am proud of it but with a lot of humility because it is something that is completely beyond me. There are also many of them on social networks taking #Moodkit selfies. It's true that it's the ideal garment to highlight their belly and capture the perfect maternity photo.
How do you manage to balance professional and personal life?
I have tried several modes of operation over ten years, and to be completely honest, they all had their qualities and their faults. I have worked from home, in co-working spaces, rented offices, worked with large teams and with small staff… The luxury that I have always afforded myself is that of flexibility and questioning. Besides, I'm still preparing a small move for next year...
Do you have any advice or good tips for future mothers reading us?
It seems to me that the important thing is in oneself... It is therefore necessary to listen to oneself in order to feel the deep and unique bond that we have with our child. Take care of yourself, your body and also your mind by nourishing yourself with enriching reading. It always seemed obvious to me that these nine months of pregnancy were such moments of effusion, deployment, invention, creation... We are in our augmented self... Put this time in parentheses at the service of a reflection on the meaning of your life. After all, it’s new life that’s on the horizon!
